The Rat Box

15 social-science models, one simulation

A colony simulation whose society runs on real agent-based models, including Joshua M. Epstein’s civil-violence model, Hegselmann–Krause opinion dynamics and SEIR epidemics on a contact graph.

What it proves for your business

Every model has an automated benchmark test, and every run can be replayed exactly. Any business agent should clear that bar before you trust its output.

What it is

A colony simulation whose society runs on real agent-based models. Among them: Joshua M. Epstein’s civil-violence model, Hegselmann–Krause opinion dynamics and SEIR epidemics on a contact graph.

The science page shows the equations and recomputes the benchmark charts in your browser, using the same code the game runs.

How it is tested

  • Each of the 15 models has an automated benchmark test.
  • The SEIR model matches the analytic benchmark within ±6%.
  • The engine is deterministic: the same run gives the same result, hash-checked across three JavaScript engines.
  • No LLMs in the runtime, by design, so every run can be replayed exactly.
  • Built by AI agents from a 202-question design interview.

Why it matters to a buyer

Any business agent should clear the same bar before you trust its output: a benchmark for every model and runs you can replay.
